Hi, I'm Ari

My art practice is an immediate response to the messiness in my mind and my surroundings. I use color and line to work through the chaos visually, always trying to allow more mistakes, weirdness and unknowing to come through. In concrete terms, this means drawing with ink, graphite, pastels, acrylics, spray paint, and watercolor to layer images representing interior spaces and bodies. I'm interested in how my embodied experience complicates my understanding of the internet, motherhood, social justice, capitalism and literature.

Part of my practice involves making small-scale works to sell on Instagram at a sliding scale, and donating 100% of those profits to Don’t Shoot PDX.

I carve out time to make art in between raising three kids, working as a designer at The Program, and loading the dishwasher.

I’d love to build a community of IRL artists. Always happy to talk process and do studio visits. Drop me a line.
